Encounter

Are you free on Wednesday mornings? If so why not think about joining our housegroup? We meet from 10am till noon, term time only, at various members houses. We are a lively group and even though there are only five of us at the moment, our meetings are never dull.

During the course of the morning, we chat about anything and everything over coffee, often with much laughter. We discuss what we are going to pray about and then pray accordingly (those who feel comfortable doing so) and we follow a study guide of some sort. This term we have been looking at Ephesians.

We are able to share any worries or concerns we may have with each other, knowing it will go no further. In return, we receive whatever is appropriate, be it prayer, support or simply someone to listen. If you would like to join us or would like to have a chat about Encounter, please see Rosemary Burgess or Mandy Hanlon.

feast@4

Jin us every first Sunday of the month for our feast@4 service.

Our worship activities include learning and teaching about God through the Bible and the life of Jesus Christ. The drama, story telling, puppets, games, prayer and singing are all designed for all ages to share together. They are related to other worship at St Andrews for young people and the young at heart! The delicious tea afterwards is always well received with many old favourites on the menu and also provides a good opportunity to chat.

Going into Hospital?

The Chaplaincy Team at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals has prepared the following practical advice for getting spiritual support during your stay in hospital.

Before leaving for hospital:

  • Let your priest or someone in your church know you are going in. Unless you yourself let them know, they may not find out.

When you get to hospital:

  • Let the Chaplaincy Team know that you would like to be visited. The ward staff will pass on this information for you

  • Chaplains are available for spiritual support and to help you think through the implications of your illness or treatment

  • It may be possible for you to attend the chapel service on Sunday. The ward staff will help arrange this.

  • If not, then someone from the Chaplaincy Team can visit you to bring communion or to say a prayer.

  • Your own priest can visit. It is worth checking the most convenient times.
